Dr. Hunthausen established Westwood Animal Hospital in 1985 in a small building that was once a service station. Since then with the support of thousands of pet owners the practice has rapidly expanded to four times its original size and from a one doctor to a four doctor practice. We are truly appreciative of our relationship with families who place their beloved pets in our care.
We strongly adhere to the Veterinarian’s Oath. To fulfill the oath, we provide sophisticated medical and surgical care with a personal touch. Our wide array of services includes dentistry, digital radiology, laser surgery, vaccinations, on site lab testing, nutritional counseling, weight control programs, grooming, boarding, micro-chipping, obedience classes, and behavior consultations. Staff veterinarians and nurses stay up to date on the latest medical and surgical procedures by attending regular continuing education seminars throughout the year.
We work with two national laboratories and veterinary specialists, including orthopedic surgeons, internists, oncologists, ophthalmologists, dentists and dermatologists in the Kansas City metro area, to ensure that our patients receive the care they need for exceptional problems.
For your convenience, we carry Science Diet and Royal Canin food for dogs and cats, and various prescription diets as well. We offer a variety of retail pet products including collars, leashes, treats, supplements, and toys.
